George Schofield OAM, an icon of Victorian greyhound racing, passed away yesterday at age 99.

He was the only surviving ‘Pioneer’ in GRV’s Hall of Fame, with his contribution to the sport as an owner, trainer, breeder, rearer, stud master, chiropractor and administrator dating back more than 70 years.

George would have turned 100 in April next year, and visited his local race club, The Meadows, just 12 days before his passing.

Hundreds are expected to attend George’s funeral, to be held at The Meadows, with details to be released shortly.
