Melbourne Cup hero Whiskey Riot has snared a second Group 1 by winning the Group 1 Temlee (525m) at The Meadows this evening.
It was a dream opening night of the Australian Cup Carnival for trainer Anthony Azzopardi, with the former NSW trainer also winning the Group 1 Zoom Top with Just Terms.
Whiskey Riot ($4.00) was simply superb, mowing down early front-runner Slingshot Hammer and winning easily.
He extended his record to 19 wins from 40 starts, with the $100,000 first prize taking his career earnings up to $740,810, which puts him just outside Australia’s top 10 of all time.
