Major boost to Greyhound Racing Victoria’s welfare inspection capability

Ten new Welfare Inspectors have joined Greyhound Racing Victoria’s Welfare Inspectorate, boosting the total number of inspectors in the team to 18.

The new Welfare Inspectors greatly increase the Inspectorate’s capacity to carry out inspections, to ensure compliance with legislation, the State Government’s statement of expectations and Greyhound Racing Victoria’s rules and regulations, and to advise and educate participants about their animal welfare obligations.

GRV General Manager – Animal Welfare Dr Gavin Goble said the new Welfare Inspectors brought with them significant experience and knowledge covering animal welfare, compliance, forensic policing, stakeholder engagement, and other areas.
