Lochinvar Brogue revives memories of past ‘slow’ starters

WHEN the Robert Smith-trained brindle dog Lochinvar Brogue finally broke through for his maiden victory at his eighth race attempt, at Gosford on May 10, his previous form brought to mind a trio of greyhounds from the past who exhibited similar levels of frustrating consistency before finally breaking through for that elusive maiden success.

Lochinvar Brogue (Collision x Lochinvar Vogue) began his career by running second over 535m at Richmond on November 11, 2015. A week later he finished second over 520m at Wentworth Park before running only seventh at Richmond, three days after that.
