Young gun polishes track record

Boom youngster Shima Shine has eclipsed a track record in just his seventh race start (six wins).

Racing on one of Victorian greyhound racing’s most traditional circuits – Ballarat’s 450m distance – Shima Shine won by 12 lengths in 24.751sec, lowering a record that stood for almost five years. The previous record was 24.766sec, set by Over Limit in 2014.

Shima Shine (pictured with handler Korie Heinrich), a 21 month old son of Barcia Bale and Geelong Cup winner Shima Song, is prepared by Andrea Dailly for David Gleeson.

His only defeat so far was in the Group 3 Warragul St. Leger.
